#BreakUp250 is a national participatory art project inviting people across the country to reflect on their relationship with the United States of America as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.
Using the breakup letter as a creative and familiar cultural metaphor, this intervention creates space for people to express love, disappointment, anger, rage, hope, grief, frustration, and everything in between.
1) Submit your BreakUp letter in written form as an image using the button below.
2) Email us a typed version of your BreakUp letter at Letters@BreakUp250.com.
3) Call 617-520-4920 and leave us an audio voicemail of your letter.
4) Join us on social media. Post your written letter on your IG feed and tag/collaborate with us at @Breakup_250 #Breakup250.

It's completely up to you. You can be as public or as anonymous as you'd like. If you'd prefer not to include your name, that's perfectly fine.
For additional anonymity, you can submit your letter through Dropbox rather than emailing it to Letters@BreakUp250.com. The most important thing is that your voice is heard.

They will become part of a public art installation (at a physical location and digitally). The letters will be transformed into a shared visual and physical experience that invites reflection, conversation, and connection.
What happens next will be decided collectively. The future of #BreakUp250 will be shaped by the people who participate in it.
